The next time someone shows up and insists on using a specific technique or methodology that you’re unsure of, here is a simple ecology question to ask:
When would this technique not be useful?
To someone who insists we do agile as our process for software development, a reasonable example would be building an airplane. You wouldn’t want to iterate on getting a plane right, trying to fly it every Friday. The impact would be catastrophic!
If someone cannot give me an example of when their technique wouldn’t work, it’s a red flag to proceed with caution, if at all.
